PREVENTION

Practicing healthy hygiene is more critical than ever. There are many ways to be exposed to colds, flu, and other viruses, like COVID 19 that can compromise your health. Here are a few practical and simple steps to help protect yourself and others from the spread of harmful germs.

WASH YOUR HANDS. Hand washing is one of the most important things you can do to avoid getting and spreading germs. Clean and wash your hands for no less than 30 seconds with soap and water. When you can’t wash your hands often, carry an alcohol-based hand gel.

STAY HEALTHY PHYSICALLY. Eating well (including antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables), getting plenty of rest, managing stress, and exercising regularly can help you resist infection. According to the CDC, children and adults (especially seniors 65 or older) who have a chronic health condition or weakened immune system should consult their physician about pneumonia and other vaccinations from which they would benefit.

COVER YOUR COUGH. Cold and flu viruses are spread through the air. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve to trap the virus. If you cough into your hands, wash them as soon as you can.

USE DISPOSABLE TISSUES. Viruses can live on cloth handkerchiefs, so use — and throw away immediately — disposable tissues to reduce spreading your illness and germs to others.

AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE. Try not to rub your eyes, nose, or mouth, especially if you are experiencing symptoms or an illness.

IF YOU ARE SICK, REST. To care for your health and that of others, we encourage you to stay home and rest. If you have a fever, wait at least 24 hours after your fever is gone without using a fever-reducing medicine before leaving home. Please let us know if you need to reschedule your appointment.  We would be happy to help with your therapy regimen while you are at home.

AT-HOME CLEANLINESS. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Germs can easily spread by touching countertops, telephones, toys, cups, or bathroom sinks.
